T Lymphocyte Stimulants

Molecular classification
Cell surface receptors, CD28/B7 superfamily, TNF/TNFR superfamily
01

Overview

T lymphocyte stimulants are molecules or agents that activate or enhance the function of T cells (T lymphocytes). They include natural ligands, synthetic compounds, or antibodies that target specific receptors on T cells to promote their activation, proliferation, and effector functions. Key receptors include CD28, ICOS, OX40, 4-1BB, and GITR. These stimulants are being explored in cancer immunotherapy to boost anti-tumor immunity by enhancing the activity of tumor-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Overstimulation can lead to autoimmunity or excessive inflammation.
