Target intelligence / Profile preview

T Lymphocyte Surface Antigen CD2 (CD2)

Target
CD2
Molecular classification
Transmembrane glycoprotein, Immunoglobulin superfamily member, Cell adhesion molecule
01

Overview

CD2 is a transmembrane glycoprotein and cell adhesion molecule primarily expressed on T cells and NK cells. It plays critical roles in cell adhesion and signal transduction during immune responses, acting as a co-stimulatory molecule. CD2 interacts with LFA-3/CD58 or CD48, facilitating stable contact during immune synapse formation. Monoclonal antibodies targeting CD2 have been developed for modulating undesired immune responses such as autoimmune diseases or transplant rejection.
