Target intelligence / Profile preview

T lymphocyte surface antigen CD3 (CD3)

Target
CD3
Molecular classification
Receptor, Multi-subunit receptor complex, Transmembrane protein
01

Overview

CD3 is a multi-subunit protein complex and a defining marker of T cells. It functions as a co-receptor that associates noncovalently with the T cell receptor (TCR) and is essential for antigen recognition and signal transduction during immune responses. The CD3 complex consists of gamma (γ), delta (δ), epsilon (ε), and zeta (ζ) chains, each containing ITAMs in their cytoplasmic domains that initiate downstream signaling cascades upon TCR engagement.
