Target intelligence / Profile preview

T lymphocyte surface antigen CD52 (CD52)

Target
CD52
Molecular classification
Glycoprotein, Cell surface antigen
01

Overview

CD52 is a small, highly glycosylated protein expressed on mature lymphocytes and other immune cells. It is anchored to the cell membrane via a GPI linkage. While its precise function is incompletely understood, it plays a role in immune regulation, including T-cell activation suppression and complement system modulation. Alemtuzumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting CD52, is used to deplete lymphocytes in the treatment of certain leukemias/lymphomas and multiple sclerosis.
