T-type Voltage-Dependent Calcium Channel

Molecular classification
Voltage-gated Calcium Channel, Ion Channel, Ca_v3 subfamily
01

Overview

T-type voltage-dependent calcium channels are a class of low-voltage activated (LVA) calcium channels that open in response to small depolarizations of the cell membrane. They are called "T-type" due to their transient current profile—activating and inactivating rapidly. They play critical roles in pacemaking activity, calcium signaling, and neuronal firing modulation and are implicated in various pathologies including epilepsy, cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension, and neuropathic pain.
