TAB2 antisense RNA 1 (TAB2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed in the antisense direction relative to the TAB2 gene. It is primarily expressed in ovarian granulosa cells and plays a key role in cellular processes including mitigation of oxidative stress, inhibition of apoptosis, and regulation of cell proliferation. The expression of TAB2-AS1 is controlled epigenetically by DNA methylation, and it promotes the expression of the TAB2 gene via sequence-specific RNA binding. TAB2-AS1 functions as a regulatory RNA, rather than a protein-coding gene. Experimental modulation (overexpression or knockdown) of TAB2-AS1 directly affects cellular oxidative state and follicular growth, suggesting a potential application as a therapeutic target in reproductive biology and possibly other oxidative stress-associated diseases
