TAGAP antisense RNA 1 (TAGAP-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the TAGAP gene locus. Like other antisense lncRNAs, TAGAP-AS1 is thought to regulate gene expression potentially through modulation of its associated sense transcript (TAGAP mRNA), possibly impacting transcription, mRNA stability, or epigenetic state, following the general mechanisms described for antisense RNAs[1][3][4]. The precise functional and pathological roles of TAGAP-AS1 remain only partially characterized, though it has been associated with ciliary dyskinesia, primary, 32 in gene-disease association resources[5]. As with most lncRNAs, its mechanisms of action are complex and context-dependent, commonly in gene regulation but not as direct drug targets.
