Talin 2 pseudogene

Molecular classification
Other — Pseudogene

Overview

Talin 2 pseudogene (ENSG00000250655) is a genomic sequence that bears homology to the functional TLN2 (talin 2) gene, but does not encode a protein and is not known to play any established biological or pathological role. Pseudogenes arise through gene duplication or retrotransposition events but accumulate mutations that inactivate their coding potential. Unlike the bona fide talin 2 protein (encoded by TLN2/ENSG00000171914), which functions as a cytoskeletal adaptor linking integrins to the actin cytoskeleton and plays a role in cell adhesion and signaling[1][2][3], the pseudogene has no confirmed molecular function, disease association, or drug interaction. Any references to talin 2 function, protein structure, molecular pathways, or disease relevance do not apply to the pseudogene, but to the functional gene/protein identified as TLN2.
