TARS1-DT (TARS1 divergent transcript) is a long non-coding RNA (ncRNA) transcribed divergently from the promoter of the TARS1 gene, which encodes threonyl-tRNA synthetase 1[3][2]. Divergent transcripts like TARS1-DT are a subclass of transcription boundary-associated RNAs (TBARs), typically found at promoter regions of protein-coding genes, and are sometimes classified as "promoter-associated long RNAs" or PALRs[2]. Many such transcripts are lowly expressed and show cell-type specific or developmental regulation, with unclear or speculative functional roles, potentially in either modulating nearby gene expression or in chromatin structure. Systematic analyses suggest that the majority of human protein-coding genes may be associated with at least one divergent (antisense) transcript, but specific biological effects and disease associations often remain to be characterized[6][7]. No known drugs, disease biomarkers, or therapeutic mechanisms are currently attributed to TARS1-DT or divergent non-coding RNAs from TARS1.
