TAT antisense RNA 1 (TAT-AS1) is annotated in the HGNC database as a gene encoding a natural antisense RNA. There is no evidence in the literature or major sequence databases that TAT-AS1 functions as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor. No functional studies, disease associations, known biological processes, or drug interactions have been described for TAT-AS1, and it does not appear in common target compendia. The presence of TAT-AS1 in variant databases (e.g., ClinVar) is as a noncoding RNA locus whose function is unknown, not as a pathogenic mediator.
