TAF10
Molecular classification
Transcription factor (TFIID subunit), Transcription coactivator, Chromatin-associated protein

Overview

TATA-box binding protein associated factor 10 (TAF10) is a small subunit of the TFIID complex, crucial for the initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II[1][7]. TFIID, composed of TBP and TBP-associated factors (TAFs), facilitates promoter recognition, complex assembly, and transmission of regulatory signals. TAF10 also participates in co-activator complexes such as SAGA and influences specific gene regulation through post-translational modifications[2]. Functional TAF10 is required for normal development and gene expression. The ENSG00000248209 entry appears to refer to a pseudogene and does not encode a functional protein. In summary, ENSG00000248209 is not a valid target; the canonical target is TAF10 (TATA-box binding protein associated factor 10), ENSG00000166337. The pseudogene is not biologically active, nor a therapeutic target. All functional information applies to the bona fide TAF10 protein-coding gene, not the pseudogene[1][5][7].
