TATA-box binding protein associated factor 11 like 2 (TAF11L2)

TAF11L2 (TATA-box binding protein associated factor 11 like 2) is a predicted protein in humans encoded by the TAF11L2 gene.[4] It is thought to have protein heterodimerization activity and to contribute to RNA polymerase II general transcription initiation factor activity.[4] The protein is predicted to be involved in RNA polymerase II preinitiation complex assembly and to localize in the nucleus, potentially as part of the transcription factor TFIID complex.[4] However, TAF11L2 is not well characterized in the scientific literature, and there is no direct evidence of its protein product, its biological function in vivo, or its relevance as a drug target. Existing data suggest it is a paralog of TAF11 but may not be a functional component; it may represent a pseudogene or an uncharacterized protein without established physiological or pathological roles.[4] Notes on accuracy/target validity: There is confusion with the bona fide TFIID subunit TAF11 (TATA-box binding protein associated factor 11), which is well studied as a canonical part of the TFIID transcriptional machinery[1][2][3]. TAF11L2 does not have established therapeutic relevance, functional data, or known disease association, and is likely not a validated molecular target.
