Overview

TAF11L4 refers to a predicted or putative gene encoding a protein similar to TAF11, a canonical subunit of the transcription factor IID (TFIID) complex involved in the initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II[2]. TAF11 is a small subunit of TFIID that interacts with TBP and forms a heterodimer with TAF13[3][5]. TAF11L4 is hypothesized to share some features of TAF11 but is annotated as "like 4", suggesting it is one of several paralogs or pseudogenes rather than a distinct protein with demonstrated function. It is predicted to enable protein heterodimerization and transcription initiation factor activity, to be part of the TFIID complex, and to be nuclear localized[2]. There is no published evidence of TAF11L4 as a characterized molecular target, receptor, transporter, or enzyme, nor is it considered a therapeutic target. No drugs, therapeutic mechanisms, or disease associations have been reported for TAF11L4[2]. - TAF11 is a functionally characterized subunit of TFIID, and its interaction with TAF13 and TBP is implicated in transcriptional regulation[1][3][5]. - TAF11L4 lacks functional validation and may represent a non-coding or pseudogene locus[2]. - The "like" nomenclature ("TAF11-like 4") commonly denotes sequence similarity but not necessarily conserved function or biological activity. - For structured database work, TAF11L4 should not be treated as an independently validated therapeutic target.
