TATA-box-binding protein-associated factor 11-like protein 12 (TAF11L12) is a predicted component of the transcription initiation machinery in the nucleus, acting as part of the TFIID complex, which is crucial for the formation of the preinitiation complex required for transcription of protein-coding genes by RNA polymerase II. Its protein function is associated with protein heterodimerization and the assembly of basal transcription factors. However, neither its molecular function nor disease relevance has been experimentally characterized or linked to pharmacological intervention. The gene is part of a family of TBP-associated factors, which commonly contain an N-terminal histone-like fold domain and are essential in transcriptional regulation, but TAF11L12 itself is not recognized as a clinical or therapeutic target.
