TATA-box binding protein associated factor 9 pseudogene 3 (TAF9P3, also called TAF2GL) is a pseudogene located on human chromosome 19[2][4][5]. Pseudogenes like TAF9P3 are DNA sequences similar to known genes but usually lack coding potential due to disabling mutations, deletions, or truncations, and do not produce functional proteins[6][8]. TAF9P3 resembles the functional gene TAF9, which encodes a 32 kDa subunit of the transcription factor IID (TFIID) complex involved in RNA polymerase II transcription initiation. While some pseudogenes are implicated in regulating their parental genes by acting as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or microRNA decoys that may influence gene expression[6][8], there is currently no evidence that TAF9P3 is directly involved in disease, nor is it known to code for a functional protein. TAF9P3 is not considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any kind of canonical therapeutic target. Its annotation may cause confusion if interpreted as a drug target, since its only known function is as an annotated pseudogene with potential RNA-level regulatory activities, which remain unvalidated in clinical or pharmacological contexts[2][4][5][8].
