TATA-box binding protein associated factor 9b pseudogene 1 (TAF9BP1)

Target

Molecular classification

Overview

TATA-box binding protein associated factor 9b pseudogene 1 (TAF9BP1) is a human non-coding pseudogene that shares sequence similarity with the TATA-box binding protein associated factor 9B (TAF9B) gene, but does not produce a functional protein[2][4][9]. Pseudogenes such as TAF9BP1 arise by duplication or mutation of protein-coding genes and are characterized by loss of coding potential due to disabling mutations[6][9]. There is no evidence supporting TAF9BP1 involvement in cell signaling, transcription regulation, or in any disease processes. It should not be confused with TAF9B, a protein-coding gene that plays a vital role in the regulation of gene expression via RNA polymerase II[3][7].

Mechanism of action

Not applicable (no known drug interactions)

03

Biological functions

None directly; pseudogenes generally do not encode functional proteins. In rare cases, pseudogenes can influence gene regulation by acting as competing endogenous RNAs or through antisense interactions, but no such function is described for TAF9BP1
04

Disease associations

None reported for TAF9BP1. Some pseudogenes modulate disease pathways (e.g., cancer) in specific cases, but TAF9BP1 is not established in any disease context
05

Safety considerations

None (not a therapeutic target nor an expressed gene product)
06

Interacting drugs

None
07

Biomarkers

None described
