TatD DNase domain containing 2 (TATDN2) is an enzyme classified as a Mg(2+)-dependent 3'-5' RNA exonuclease and endonuclease, with experimentally described roles in the resolution of R-loops through degradation of R-loop RNA structures. It shows hydrolase activity acting on ester bonds and metal ion binding activity. TATDN2 is predicted to be mainly located in the nucleoplasm and functions in nucleic acid metabolism, particularly influencing RNA and DNA structures in the cell. While it is expressed in multiple tissues and appears important for genome integrity and nucleic acid handling, there are currently no drugs targeting this molecule, and it is not yet implicated directly in specific diseases or used as a biomarker.
