TATDN2P3 is a non-coding DNA sequence classified as a pseudogene related to the "TatD DNase domain containing 2" gene. Pseudogenes like TATDN2P3 resemble protein-coding genes in sequence but typically carry mutations, stop codons, or regulatory changes that prevent production of a functional TatD enzyme. While most pseudogenes are considered non-functional relics of evolution, recent research suggests that some pseudogene transcripts may regulate gene expression (for example, by acting as competitive endogenous RNAs or miRNA "sponges").
