Taxilin gamma (TXLNG) is a member of the taxilin family of syntaxin-binding proteins that participates in intracellular vesicle trafficking by binding the C-terminal coiled-coil region of syntaxin family members (1A, 3A, 4A). It localizes to centrosomes, regulating their separation during the cell cycle through interaction with the kinase Nek2A. TXLNG also inhibits ATF4-mediated transcription, influencing bone mass and metabolic phenotypes (notably insulin resistance in obesity) by reducing adipocyte inflammation and improving insulin sensitivity upon overexpression. It is not a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, but is implicated in biological processes relevant to disease pathogenesis
