Taxilin gamma Y-linked (TXLNGY) is a pseudogene located on the Y chromosome in humans. It is homologous to the functional taxilin gamma gene (TXLNG), which encodes a syntaxin-binding protein involved in intracellular vesicle trafficking and centrosome organization, but TXLNGY itself lacks the capacity to code for a functional protein and is not implicated in any recognized molecular or disease processes. Its aliases and close sequence similarity sometimes lead to confusion, but major genomic and protein databases consistently annotate TXLNGY as a non-functional pseudogene, not as a therapeutic target[3][6]. Key clarifying note: TXLNGY must be clearly distinguished from TXLNG (taxilin gamma), a protein-coding gene with biological activity; TXLNGY itself is not a druggable or disease-relevant target[3][6].
