TBC1 domain family member 3 pseudogene 2 (TBC1D3P2) is a non-coding human pseudogene related to the TBC1D3 gene family, which is characterized by hominoid-specific expansions in the human genome[1]. Pseudogenes such as TBC1D3P2 are typically non-functional remnants of protein-coding genes and are not considered therapeutic targets. While gene family members like TBC1D3 are implicated in neurodevelopment, proliferation, and various signaling pathways[1][2][3], TBC1D3P2 itself does not encode a functional protein. There is limited data about its function or biomedical relevance, although one genome-wide RNAi phenotype links it to an increased infection phenotype in the context of vaccinia virus in human cells[5].
