TDH antisense RNA 1 (TDH-AS1)

Target
TDH-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), antisense RNA
01

Overview

TDH antisense RNA 1 (TDH-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene with antisense orientation relative to the TDH gene locus[7][8]. Like other lncRNA antisense RNAs, TDH-AS1 is presumed to play a role in the epigenetic or transcriptional regulation of its sense gene counterpart or neighboring genes. Antisense lncRNAs can modulate gene expression through several mechanisms, including transcriptional interference, chromatin modification, or mRNA stability, often influencing cell state and disease pathways[1][2][5][8]. However, specific functional or disease associations for TDH-AS1 remain uncharacterized in the scientific literature.

Mechanism of action

No known mechanisms of drug interaction specific to TDH-AS1. More generally, antisense RNAs sometimes serve as drug targets or tools (e.g., antisense oligonucleotide therapy), but there is no evidence for such roles for TDH-AS1

03

Biological functions

Regulation of gene expression (general property of antisense RNAs, especially lncRNA-type antisense RNAs, often at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level)
04

Disease associations

No specific direct association with human diseases has been established for TDH-AS1 itself. However, antisense RNAs as a class are implicated in various disease processes, notably cancer, through gene regulation
