Overview

TDRKH antisense RNA 1 (TDRKH-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) identified in humans, also known as RP11-98D18.9. It is associated with the regulation of gene expression in oncogenic processes. TDRKH-AS1 is significantly upregulated in several cancers, including colorectal cancer and breast cancer, where its increased expression correlates with advanced tumor stage, poor prognosis, and increased proliferation and invasion of cancer cells. Mechanistically, TDRKH-AS1 exerts its effects in colorectal cancer by promoting oncogenic activity through activation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, and in breast cancer by acting as a molecular sponge for miR-134-5p, modulating downstream targets such as CREB1, which in turn enhances cancer cell proliferation and invasion. These findings have led to TDRKH-AS1 being recognized as a potential novel prognostic biomarker and a potential therapeutic target in cancer, though no specific drugs targeting TDRKH-AS1 are currently established in clinical use.
