Overview

TEAD1 is a transcription factor that regulates gene expression involved in embryonic development, organ formation, cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. It binds to DNA via the TEA domain and requires coactivators like YAP/TAZ for transcriptional activity. TEAD1 plays a role in the Hippo signaling pathway, controlling organ size and acting as a tumor suppressor. Dysregulation of TEAD1 has been linked to Sveinsson's chorioretinal atrophy and various cancers.
