Tec family kinases are a group of non-receptor tyrosine kinases that play crucial roles in intracellular signaling, particularly in hematopoietic and immune cells. They are activated by a variety of cell surface receptors and regulate multiple cellular processes including lymphocyte activation, cytoskeletal reorganization, and cellular adhesion. Dysfunction or mutation within this family has significant clinical consequences, such as X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA) caused by BTK mutations.
