Technetium Tc 99m (technetium-99m) is a metastable nuclear isomer of technetium-99, widely used as a radioactive tracer in nuclear medicine diagnostic imaging. It emits gamma rays with an energy of approximately 140 keV and has a physical half-life of about six hours, making it ideal for medical imaging due to its short-lived radioactivity and minimal radiation dose to patients. It is not a therapeutic target itself, but rather a tool used in conjunction with other molecules for diagnostic purposes.
