TEDC2 antisense RNA 1 (TEDC2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene expressed from the antisense strand of the TEDC2 locus. As an antisense RNA, TEDC2-AS1 may regulate the expression of its sense counterpart or other neighboring genes via transcriptional interference, chromatin modification, or RNA-RNA interactions. Antisense lncRNAs in general are involved in diverse cellular processes like epigenetic regulation, control of gene transcription, and post-transcriptional modulation, but as of now, no specific biological role, disease association, or drug interaction is known for TEDC2-AS1 itself. Its function is presumed to be regulatory due to its RNA class, but further functional or clinical relevance is yet to be determined.
