Target intelligence / Profile preview
Tektin bundle-interacting protein 1 (TEKTIP1) is a microtubule inner protein highly expressed in the testis, especially in early and late spermatids, and specifically localized along the sperm flagella[1][3]. TEKTIP1 interacts strongly with tektin 3, supporting the structural integrity and organization of tektin bundles within axonemal doublet microtubules[1]. Knockout mice lacking TEKTIP1 exhibit moderately disorganized sperm axonemal structures and reduced sperm motility, resulting in male subfertility[1]. TEKTIP1 is not a canonical therapeutic target, nor is it known to interact with drugs; its deficiency is associated with sperm motility defects rather than broader diseases or syndromes[1][3][4].
