Overview

Tenascin-N is a large, modular extracellular matrix glycoprotein and a member of the tenascin family. It participates in cell adhesion, migration, and neurite outgrowth, acting as a ligand for several integrins. It promotes angiogenesis in tumors by facilitating endothelial cell elongation, migration and sprouting, and is notably expressed in breast cancer and metastatic bone niches, where it enhances tumorigenic cell migration and proliferation[3][4][6]. Tenascin-N can inhibit chondroblast proliferation during bone formation and is involved in cell-matrix interactions influencing development and disease. Its expression is linked to certain rare genetic syndromes and may serve as a prognostic marker in cancer.
