TENM2 antisense RNA 1 (TENM2-AS1)

Target
TENM2-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), Antisense RNA, Other (non-protein-coding RNA)
01

Overview

TENM2 antisense RNA 1 (TENM2-AS1) is a long, antisense non-coding RNA gene that is oriented opposite to the protein-coding TENM2 gene. Like other antisense lncRNAs, TENM2-AS1 is thought to potentially regulate the expression of its sense (TENM2) gene partner by mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, RNA-RNA binding, or epigenetic modification, but its distinct biological functions, mechanisms, and disease associations remain largely uncharacterized in available literature and major databases. No direct evidence currently supports TENM2-AS1 as a therapeutic target or as a clinically relevant biomarker.

Other names
sometimes described only as an antisense lncRNA for TENM2

Mechanism of action

None known. Generally, antisense lncRNAs can be modulated by antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) or siRNAs, but specific mechanisms for TENM2-AS1 have not been documented.

03

Biological functions

Modulation of gene expression (by antisense mechanism)Potential epigenetic regulationOther (typical lncRNA functions, such as chromatin modification or transcriptional interference, inferred by analogy to other antisense lncRNAs, but specific functions for TENM2-AS1 are not fully described in current literature)
04

Disease associations

Other (No direct evidence for association with specific diseases. Antisense lncRNAs are sometimes studied in cancer, metabolism, or neurodevelopment, but no direct data for TENM2-AS1 found in current sources.)
