Overview

Tensin-4 (TNS4) is a focal adhesion-associated protein encoded by the TNS4 gene in humans. It binds actin and participates in protein localization at the cell cytoskeleton and focal adhesions. Tensin-4 promotes cell migration, especially in response to EGF, by displacing tensin TNS3 from integrin ITGB1, leading to actin stress fiber disassembly and initiation of migration. It also suppresses ligand-induced degradation of EGFR by reducing EGFR ubiquitination and increases MET protein stability by inhibiting its endocytosis and lysosomal degradation, resulting in increased cell survival and proliferation. Tensin-4 is implicated in various oncogenic processes and is associated with certain cancers, particularly where cell migration and invasion are relevant[1][3][4].
