Terminal nucleotidyltransferase 4A

Molecular classification
Enzyme, Terminal Nucleotidyltransferase
01

Overview

Terminal nucleotidyltransferase 4A (TENT4A), also known as PAPD7, is a non-canonical poly(A) polymerase that catalyzes the addition of ATP and GTP to the 3' end of RNA molecules, creating heterogeneous poly(A) tails. It plays a role in mRNA stability, DNA-damage tolerance, and has been implicated in diseases such as endometrial cancer and dyskeratosis congenita. Inhibition of PAPD5/7 can rescue telomerase function, suggesting its involvement in telomere maintenance and stem cell biology.
