TEX14BP
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Potential long noncoding RNA (LncRNA), only in murine/experimental context

Overview

Testis expressed 14B, pseudogene (TEX14BP) is a pseudogene locus annotated in genomic databases without evidence for protein expression or direct biological activity in humans. The name "LNCGM1082" is associated with a long noncoding RNA in mice, which has been found to modulate inflammasome (NLRC4) activity in innate immune cells and gut epithelium, influencing interleukin-1β maturation, pyroptosis, and host response to bacterial infection. However, there is no direct confirmation that human TEX14BP and murine/human LNCGM1082 are the same molecular entity, and the function has not been ascribed to a canonical human target. The entry is likely erroneous if interpreted as a therapeutic target.

Mechanism of action

Not applicable (no known drug action or target function). Mechanistic insights pertain only to LNCGM1082's regulatory effect on PKCδ/NLRC4 in immune cells (mainly in murine models).

03

Biological functions

No established protein function for TEX14BP.The lncRNA LNCGM1082 (in mice and referenced human macrophages) regulates activation of the NLRC4 inflammasome and related immune responses.
04

Disease associations

No disease association for TEX14BP (as a pseudogene). For murine LNCGM1082: host defense, possibly infection and inflammation through regulation of NLRC4 inflammasome.
