Overview

Testis expressed 38 (TEX38) is a protein expressed predominantly in the testis of humans, and primarily localizes to testicular tissue including germ cells[3][4]. It is a protein of unknown detailed function, but mouse studies suggest possible roles in cell differentiation and metabolic processes involving carbohydrate derivatives[6]. Diseases associated with mutations or alterations in TEX38 include male infertility, and it has been listed as associated with Phosphoglycerate Kinase 1 deficiency; however, its specific mechanistic involvement in disease is not well characterized[3]. TEX38 is not recognized as a therapeutic receptor, enzyme, or common drug target, and no drugs are known to interact with it. Its expression is highly testis-specific, supporting a role in spermatogenesis or testicular development[2][4].
