Overview

Testis-expressed protein 22 (TEX22) is a protein coded by the TEX22 gene, highly and specifically expressed in the testis, with predicted location in the acrosomal vesicle of developing sperm cells[4]. TEX22 is thought to play a role in early spermatogenesis, first expressed in prepubertal testis, possibly involved in male fertility, and associated with spermatogenic failure if dysfunctional[2][4]. However, its molecular mechanism, cellular pathways, and clinical significance as a therapeutic target remain undetermined. No evidence links TEX22 to drug interaction, nor does current research classify it within well-known protein families such as receptors, enzymes, ion channels, or transcription factors.
