Overview

Testis-expressed protein 36 (TEX36) is a human protein encoded by the TEX36 gene located on chromosome 10q26.13. It is primarily expressed in fetal tissues, placenta, and testes, with background expression in other adult tissues. TEX36 contains MAP kinase-related motifs and nuclear localization signals, and interacts with proteins such as dexamethasone-induced Ras-related protein 1, phosphatase 1 catalytic subunit, and interferon regulatory factor 3. While variants and expression changes have been observed in certain syndromes and conditions, definitive functional or therapeutic targeting data are lacking. Its biological function appears connected to male sexual development and spermatogenesis, but it is not established as a therapeutic target, enzyme, receptor, or transporter[1][3][7].
