Overview

Testis-expressed protein 46 (TEX46) is a protein primarily expressed in the testis and is essential for male fertility. It plays a critical role in the formation of sperm head structure and enables sperm to penetrate the egg zona pellucida. Studies in mice indicate that knockout of TEX46 leads to abnormal sperm head morphology, impaired motility, and infertility. There is no evidence that TEX46 functions as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or druggable therapeutic target in current biomedical or pharmacological research[1][3][6][8].
