Testis-specific protein TEX28 (TEX28)

Target
TEX28
Molecular classification
Other, Transmembrane protein
01

Overview

Testis-specific protein TEX28 (TEX28) is a transmembrane protein encoded by a gene located on the X chromosome, with predominant expression in the testis. Its precise biological function is unknown; available evidence suggests it may be involved in protein binding, and predicted to be an integral membrane component active in the endomembrane system. Copy number variations in the TEX28 gene have been associated with certain forms of X-linked myopia, but there is no clear evidence for a therapeutic role, targetable mechanism, or involvement in other diseases[1][4][5][6].
