Overview

TSPY15P (Testis specific protein Y-linked 15, pseudogene) is a pseudogene located on the Y chromosome and is presumed nonfunctional, lacking protein-coding capability. Pseudogenes are gene sequences that have lost their original gene function due to mutation and are generally considered noncoding "genomic fossils". Unlike functional family members such as TSPY1, TSPY15P does not produce a functional protein and is not targeted by therapeutic drugs. There is no evidence in current literature indicating an active biological, diagnostic, or pharmacological role for TSPY15P. Critical note: If your objective is to gather information on a functional testis-specific protein Y-linked target, the correct canonical target is "Testis specific protein Y-linked 1" (TSPY1), which does function in spermatogenesis and is a cancer-testis antigen involved in various cancers. TSPY15P, as a pseudogene, should not be considered a molecular or therapeutic target.
