Testis-specific protein Y-linked 5, pseudogene (TSPY5P) is a member of the TSPY (testis-specific protein Y-linked) gene family, which is located on the Y chromosome and encodes proteins typically involved in spermatogenesis. TSPY5P, however, is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it does not encode a functional protein due to disruptive mutations in its sequence[2][4]. While functional TSPY family proteins such as TSPY1 have been implicated in male reproductive biology and as cancer-testis antigens, particularly in gonadoblastoma and certain cancers[1][3], TSPY5P itself is considered nonfunctional and not a therapeutic target or receptor. Pseudogenes like TSPY5P can sometimes be transcribed, but there is no evidence for translation into active protein, nor a role in disease biology, drug targeting, or biomarker development[2][4]. Thus, TSPY5P is not considered a direct molecular target in drug discovery or therapy, and its entry as a "target" is incorrect with respect to its molecular and therapeutic relevance.
