Overview

Testis-specific Y-encoded-like protein 6 (TSPYL6) is a member of the TSPYL family of nucleosome assembly proteins, exclusively expressed in the testes[1]. The TSPYL gene family is involved in chromatin dynamics and histone chaperoning, but the specific biological function and clinical relevance of TSPYL6 remains largely unstudied. There are six TSPYL genes in humans (TSPYL1–6; TSPYL3 is a pseudogene), with TSPYL6 showing highly tissue-restricted expression, suggesting likely testis-specific roles, potentially in spermatogenesis or chromatin organization in germ cells[1]. No known disease associations, drug interactions, or biomarker value have been established for TSPYL6, although related family members have critical functions in development and disease.
