Target intelligence / Profile preview
Testosterone congeners are steroidal compounds structurally related to testosterone that exhibit androgenic and anabolic activity. These include testosterone esters, derivatives, and synthetic steroids, functioning primarily by binding to and activating the androgen receptor (AR), a nuclear receptor that regulates gene expression. They are used therapeutically for hypogonadism and certain cancers, but abuse as anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) carries significant health risks.
Binds to the androgen receptor (AR), a nuclear receptor, leading to altered gene expression and downstream anabolic and androgenic effects.
