Overview

Tet methylcytosine dioxygenase 1 pseudogene 1 (TET1P1) is a pseudogene of TET1, a member of the ten-eleven translocation (TET) family of enzymes that oxidize 5-methylcytosine and are central to DNA demethylation and epigenetic regulation. While the TET1 gene encodes a protein-coding enzyme involved in important biological processes such as DNA demethylation and gene expression regulation, TET1P1 itself is non-functional in protein coding and has not been shown to serve as a receptor, transporter, or direct therapeutic target. Functional data, disease relevance, and druggability relate to TET1, not the TET1P1 pseudogene[1][5]. There is no established evidence of TET1P1 producing a functional RNA or protein, and it is not a recognized molecular target in biomedical research. If you are seeking information on the functional enzyme involved in DNA demethylation, refer to “Tet methylcytosine dioxygenase 1” (TET1), not the pseudogene TET1P1[1][5].
