TET2 antisense RNA 1 (TET2-AS1)

Target
TET2-AS1
Molecular classification
Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA), Antisense RNA
01

Overview

TET2 antisense RNA 1 (TET2-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA gene transcribed antisense to the TET2 locus[7]. Antisense RNAs, including TET2-AS1, typically regulate gene expression through epigenetic, transcriptional, or post-transcriptional mechanisms, often by interfering with the transcription, stability, or translation of their sense gene partners[3]. While many antisense lncRNAs have roles in cancer, immunity, and development, specific biological and disease functions of TET2-AS1 remain under-explored. TET2-AS1 belongs to the class of antisense lncRNAs and is not an enzyme, receptor, or ion channel. It may have regulatory functions impacting TET2 itself and potentially influence disease states, such as immunodeficiency[7]. No drugs are currently known to interact with TET2-AS1, and no safety concerns have been reported for this molecule in a therapeutic context. If more detailed disease, interaction, or biomarker data become available, new entries may be needed, but the above reflects the current state of knowledge.

02

Mechanism of action

Not applicable, as there are no drugs targeting TET2-AS1.

03

Biological functions

Regulation of gene expression, particularly via epigenetic and transcriptional modulationPossible involvement in modulating TET2 expression
04

Disease associations

Immunodeficiency (specifically “Immunodeficiency 75 With Broad Susceptibility To Infection” has been associated with TET2-AS1, but functional or mechanistic detail is lacking)Potential involvement in cancer and other diseases, inferred by analogy to other antisense lncRNAs but direct data is sparse
05

Biomarkers

TET2-AS1 itself may become useful as a biomarker (for example, for immunodeficiency disorders), but there is no clear clinical validation
