Tetanus toxin fragment C (TTFC) is a non-toxic, highly immunogenic polypeptide derived from the carboxy-terminal portion of the heavy chain of tetanus neurotoxin produced by Clostridium tetani. It retains the neuronal binding properties of the full-length toxin but lacks its enzymatic and toxic activities, making it suitable for use as a vaccine antigen and carrier protein. TTFC binds specifically to sialic acid-containing gangliosides on neuronal cell surfaces and induces a strong immune response without causing toxicity.
