Tetanus Toxin Protein (TeNT)

Target
TeNT
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Toxin, Metalloprotease
01

Overview

Tetanus toxin (TeNT) is a potent neurotoxin produced by Clostridium tetani. It functions by inhibiting neurotransmitter release, causing spastic paralysis. While toxic in its native form, detoxified forms (tetanus toxoid) are widely used as carrier proteins in conjugate vaccines due to their strong immunogenicity and ability to elicit T-cell help for conjugated antigens.
