Tetraspanin-10 (TSPAN10) is a member of the tetraspanin family of integral membrane proteins, characterized by four transmembrane domains with conserved cysteine motifs critical for structure and function[1][4]. Like other tetraspanins, it is predicted to localize to the plasma membrane and is implicated in the modulation of cell–cell interactions, signal transduction, and protein trafficking[1][2][3][4]. Genome-wide association studies have identified TSPAN10 variants contributing to increased susceptibility to strabismus, suggesting a biological role in ocular motor circuitry. The precise physiological mechanism of Tetraspanin-10 remains to be fully elucidated, but, by analogy to other tetraspanins, it likely participates in forming complexes affecting membrane organization and signaling. No drugs currently target Tetraspanin-10, and its direct involvement in other disease contexts is less well defined, though roles in cancer, immune regulation, and signaling modulation have been described for other tetraspanin family members[3].
