Tetraspanin 17 pseudogene (ENSG00000249887) is a non-functional genetic locus related to the tetraspanin 17 (TSPAN17) gene, a member of the tetraspanin family known for roles in cell signaling and membrane organization. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to known genes but are usually nonfunctional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements. They do not encode proteins and, except in rare cases where pseudogene transcripts regulate other genes, have no direct biological activity. This pseudogene is not considered a therapeutic target, does not participate in disease pathways, and is not used for biomarkers or drug targeting.
