Tetraspanin-19 (TSPAN19) is a member of the tetraspanin family of small, highly conserved four-pass transmembrane proteins that play general roles in cell biology, such as regulating membrane protein organization, signal transduction, cell adhesion, and membrane dynamics[1]. However, unlike more heavily studied tetraspanins (such as CD9, CD81, or TSPAN15), there is currently no specific published information detailing the unique functions, disease associations, biomarkers, or druggability of Tetraspanin-19 specifically[2]. Its gene and protein exist in genome databases, but its cellular function, therapeutic potential, or disease relevance have not been characterized in the biomedical literature as of June 2024.
