Tetratricopeptide repeat domain 9B (TTC9B) is a TPR-containing protein that acts as a scaffold for protein-protein interactions. Its epigenetic regulation is sensitive to estrogen, and changes in TTC9B DNA methylation have been linked to the hormonal modulation of the brain, especially during pregnancy. Human studies highlight TTC9B methylation status as predictive of postpartum depression, indicating a potential role as a psychiatric biomarker.
